The RWPA Elite Boys/Men Program 16U, 19U, and Major League received their training and coaching from three coaches throughout the season. These coaches were employed by WPS, but contracted to coach our Men’s program. (Cyril Dorgigne – Major League, Ethan D’Souza – 16U, and Dave Boan – 19U.)
Our 16U athletes were few in number with only six actually in the age group. These athletes participated in the NCL with support from athletes in the Carrier group as well as some athletes from Estevan. Because of their relative age as a team, and lack of competitive performance, they were towards the bottom of the Western NCL in standings before the season was ended in March due to the pandemic.
The 19U boys team had only three actual players from our Club in the 19U age group. They competed in the NCL, supported by younger players playing up. There were an additional four other players from our 16U program that also played in the 19U category. Callin Chimilar, who was away on a NCAA scholarship participated in two tournaments before the pandemic cut the season short. To fill out the roster, WPS partnered with the Edmonton Club to provide five athletes. The team achieved a third place standing overall.
The Men’s Major League team was well represented by our Regina based athletes, with our four 19U athletes playing up. The team participated in the NCL and achieved first place in the Western Division.
In closing, our RWPA participants who were also of High School age, received additional coaching and training through the High School Excellence Program which is operated through the supports of WPS.
