Why Regina Water Polo?

Regna Water Polo Association (RWPA) is Regina's ONLY developmental, recreational & competitive water polo club. We create an environment for athletes to learn, succeed & have fun!  The aim of RWPA is to develop and promote this amateur sport in the city of Regina.  RWPA provides development opportunities for volunteers, players, coaches, referees, and administrators to learn, play and succeed in the exciting game of water polo.


The ILWP Head Manager position is responsible for the local delivery of I Love Water Polo (ILWP) initiatives. The ILWP program is the driving force behind the developmental programs of Semi-Competitive, Admiral, Battleship and Elite programs.  The ILWP program is the key to the growth of participation at the youth level. 


RWPA is seeking a passionate and committed individual with impeccable organizational and interpersonal skills who has experience working with youth in aquatic environments.

  • Motivation - Create a good team spirit and know-how to motivate coaches and players.
  • Forward-thinking Ability- plan to for effective programming for RWPA.


How you can make a difference:

  • Work with the RWPA ILWP Coordinator/Board member to schedule pool times and coaches
  • Lead contact at all ILWP practices and games for athletes and staff
  • Setup lesson plans for ILWP to support the ILWP coaches and ILWP program
  • Involved in the coaching selection process for ILWP coaches
  • Work with the RWPA Team Rep to communicate with parents
  • Ensuring coaching coverage for all groups and coaching in the pool when required
  • Plan and organize the ILWP Open House in September
  • Track certification for any coaches who take coaching courses
  • Liaison between Water Polo Saskatchewan (WPS) to monitor the number of RWPA coaches for Elite, Battleship, Admiral, and Semi-Comp classes if more coverage is needed
  • Assist in creating Armada teams and oversee all coaches and players for all Community League (CL) tournaments
  • Coordinate, communicate and attend all WPS events and tournaments
  • Obtain a working knowledge of water polo and the mission and objectives of RWPA and the ILWP program as designed by WPS
  • Ensures information is communicated through RAMP app, RWPA website, social media sites and creates a monthly ‘Armada Announcements’ newsletter.
  • Report progress with written reports to RWPA Board at monthly Board Meetings
  • Additional duties as needed

Position Requirements to drive change:

  • Must possess or commit to taking the following courses:
    • Water Polo Community Coach National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) training
    • Respect in Sport online training
    • NCCP Safe Sport course
  • Other water-related certifications and experience will be considered an asset (NLS, WSI, Speed Swimming coaching experience)
  • Criminal Record Check with the vulnerable sector is required if the successful candidate is over 16 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required with reliable transportation
  • Excellent organizational ability and effective communication skills
  • Familiarity with RAMP is preferred but not needed


How you will thrive:

  • Season duration: 26 weeks over the period of Sept 1 to May 30th
  • Estimated hours per week: 7.5hrs per week - 4.5hrs on deck and 3hrs admin work
  • On deck times: Wednesdays 6:15-8:45 pm and Sundays 1:15-3:15 pm
  • Reports directly to the President, Club Representative and ILWP Coordinator
  • RWPA CL tournaments, approx. 6 per year, 9hrs per day as determined by WPS
  • Occasional travel between Regina, Saskatoon, Weyburn, and Estevan for tournaments
  • Salary - $5000 over the season + mileage and per diem for travel
