Adult Polo

There are three levels in ARMADA's adult polo programming: Competitive Adult Polo (CAP), Recreational Adult Polo (RAP) and Beginner Adult Polo (BAP). Athletes must be 18+ to practice with BAP/RAP.

We love this game & want to share it with you! What's stopping you from getting in the pool with us? 'I'm not a strong swimmer' isn't a good enough excuse!

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Water polo is a full body workout!
  • Get to soak in a hot tub afterwards!
  • Get to meet new people!
  • There's opportunity for road trips to provincials in Saskatoon!

CAP

COMPETITIVE ADULT POLO

This program follows the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Competitive for Life stream. Participants must have knowledge of the sport and strong swimming skills. Our CAP athletes train with the Elite group once a week. CAP athletes are also invited to practice with BAP/RAP on Sunday evenings. CAP athletes compete in provincial tournaments in the open men and open women categories.

Former ARMADA athletes who have aged out Carrier and do not wish to continue on with 17U TeamSask, yet still want to train with their peers and compete at provincials are encouraged to join. These athletes would not train with BAP/RAP on Sunday. They train with the elite groups on Monday & Wednesday nights.

CAP athletes are eligible to compete in National Championship League (NCL) senior events with Water Polo Sask (WPS) at the coaches discretion.

BAP/RAP

BEGINNER ADULT POLO / RECREATIONAL ADULT POLO

Both Beginner Adult Polo (BAP) and Recreational Adult Polo (RAP) are for those aged 18 and older. BAP & RAP participants are invited to play in the adult rec division at provincial tournaments. BAP & RAP is divided into two ten week sessions: fall (September to December) and winter (January to March). Participants can register for a single session or a full year.

BAP combines swimming with water polo skills and game play. It allows participants to have fun while promoting fitness, friendship and teamwork. Participants do not need strong swimming skills or even previous knowledge of the game! This is a great opportunity for parents with children who play to get more familiar with the game and gain an appreciation for what their children do in the water. Focus will be on building confidence in the water, acquiring water polo skills and learning the rules of the game.

RAP participants should have past knowledge of the sport or come from a strong swimming background. This is a great opportunity for former lifeguards, speed swimmers, synchro swimmers or triathletes to get back in the pool or layer on another aquatic sport. The Active-for-Life program combines swim sets, ball-handling drills and game tactics. The program encourages fitness, skill development and a little friendly competition.

Practice times are available under PROGRAMS > TRAINING SCHEDULE in the menu above.
