LEARN TO SWIM & PLAY WATER POLO

‘I Love Water Polo’ (ILWP) is an introductory water polo program for children aged 5+. Participants will learn important swimming skills, the rules of water polo, make new friends and have FUN!

The ILWP program uses the framework from Seals Certification Program developed by Water Polo Saskatchewan (WPS).  ILWP program is like a community swimming lessons but has the added elements of water polo which keeps kids excited and engaged. Suggested level outcomes are identified below. There are many links between how water polo skills can support the development of swimming and also translates to other territorial sports such as soccer, basketball and hockey! Certain water polo skills will help your child become a confident swimmer and athlete.

Do you have to be able to swim to participate? Participants should enjoy being in the water, but do not have to be good swimmers. Groups will organized according to age and skill level. New swimmers will begin in the shallow section of the pool and eventually progress to the deep end. We do have float belts for those who need support until they are confident to swim without one.

Pups is generally designed for children ages 5 to 7 and Seals is geared for children ages 8 to 10, but register your child where you feel they would be most comfortable. Challenge is good for some children, while some children need more confidence. You know your child best. Our coaches are always evaluating player progress and players might be moved into different groups as needed.
